PRIVATISE BUSINESS VPN

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Privatise Business VPN?

Do my customers need Privatise if they already use a VPN for remote access to work files when they work from home?

While they both use the same kind of infrastructure, a remote access VPN only encrypts your connection to your customers' office network, file server and workstations.

A VPN service like Privatise encrypts all internet traffic on a device, via our servers, instead of your customers'.This makes your customers' employees' use of Public WiFi for example, much more secure.

If my customers use their remote access VPN for regular web surfing as well, do they still need Privatise?

In theory, no. But in reality, this practice can be problematic.

Many employees find it a hassle to connect to the office server each time they want to use the internet, not to mention the latency it adds - especially when traveling. It routes lots of new traffic through the office network that you're responsible for, opens an unnecessary attack vector to the network, and creates dependency on a single point of failure.

Privatise Business VPN is great for your customers, giving them a reliable encrypted connection for access to Cloud services and general browsing, that you don't have to manage. You get to route internet traffic through our global redundant infrastructure designed for high availability and resilience, completely separate from your customers' office networks.

Will Privatise Business VPN log and keep my customers' data?

We never log the sites that users visit, content or what they do there.

Unlike consumer VPN apps, as a Business VPN, Privatise enables Team Administrators to enforce compliance of use of the VPN across their company.  Knowing who is, and IS NOT using the VPN is essential for ensuring security across the entire enterprise.

To enable this critical functionality, Privatise does log a user's session metadata.  By default, this is retained for 30 days and then deleted.  A Team Administrator can change this for their company to any number of days between 1 and 30.

We may occasionally use the session metadata for diagnostics. See our Privacy Policy for more information.
