Choosing the right VPN service for your company can be a tricky decision, especially if you’re not an IT expert. To make it easier, we have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions we receive from customers, along with our answers, to ensure you can make an informed decision.
Remote employees and employees working from home will often use unsecured connections, such as public WiFi, to access sensitive business documents and applications. Without a VPN, their online activity can be intercepted, monitored and used. Cyber criminals can easily siphon sensitive business data without being noticed, and steal passwords and other employee information.
Traditional VPNs help to keep your employees’ online activity private and anonymised through sophisticated encryption but require users to turn the platform on themselves.
Privatise Online Encryption, on the other hand, is always on and working away in the background. Once it’s installed to a user’s device, it requires no further configuration, providing 24/7 online privacy and protection.
Privatise Business VPN is a solution designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
Unlike consumer-grade solutions which are difficult to scale and manage, and enterprise-grade solutions that are complex and time-consuming, Privatise is an easy-to-use solution that provides the flexibility, functionality and scalability that SMBs need from their online encryption.
It has a centralised management portal, allowing you to manage and authenticate new devices, monitor devices connected to and using the VPN, and access tools for compliance. It also comes with built-in public key infrastructure (PKI) authentication which removes the need for usernames and passwords and instead authenticates devices based on a security certificate the solution installs to the device.
Using Privatise, devices can be added as and when necessary, providing a flexible and scalable solution, and the protection of those devices is automated as it runs automatically in the background, requiring no complex configuration.
Unlike other VPN solutions on the market, Privatise’s online encryption solution is the first internet privacy protection tool specifically designed to meet the practical needs of small businesses.
For example, consumer-grade solutions, while affordable and accessible, do not provide all of the privacy and security functionalities small businesses require and as a result, must be supported with additional solutions. Each individual solution must then be managed on an ongoing basis to ensure privacy across business devices.
Enterprise-grade solutions, on the other hand, are far too costly and complex to set up and often require a dedicated IT department to ensure the day-to-day running of the solution and the deployment of it to individual business devices.
Privatise Business VPN, on the other hand is easy to deploy, scalable and offers centralised device management and authentication, making it easy for you to ensure your business communications are private.
From your master Customer Portal account you invite colleagues in your team. They receive an automated invitation email with a personalised installation link.
Users open the email from the device they wish to install Privatise to and click on the link.
After clicking on the link, a security certificate specific to the device will be downloaded and the device will be authenticated for use.
To deploy the Privatise solution on other devices owned by the same user, they can open the same invite email on different devices and the process will be repeated.
Even without the invitation email, once you have Privatise running on just one of your devices, you can easily invite and activate another device directly from the application, or by entering your email on our website. Either of these options will automatically send a new email to your user, allowing them to install Privatise on another device.
Yes. From your customer portal, you can review which members of your team have Privatise Online Encryption installed, and being used, on each of their devices.
No. Once you’ve installed Privatise Online Encryption on your devices, it operates in the background 24/7 with no need for further interaction.
There is a small processing overhead to encrypt and decrypt your data, but this is not usually noticeable on modern devices. Due to the way internet routing works, there can sometimes be a very modest decrease in your connection speed as your traffic is routed via our servers or an increase in connection speed.
